Britney Spears Responds to Kevin Federline Ahead of Her Memoir Release

Britney Spears is firing back at her ex-husband, Kevin Federline, as the date approaches for the release of her memoir, “You Thought You Knew.” Federline has made several serious accusations against Spears in his book, notably claiming that she once struck their son in the face.

With the release set for October 21, Spears has characterized Federline’s actions as “constant gaslighting,” suggesting he aims to profit from her struggles.

In a post on X, she expressed her frustrations: “For someone as simple as me to be loved unconditionally, to be constantly threatened and made to believe it was my fault by taking advantage of my pain…” She added, “Oh, dear Jesus, please tell me there is a God. I too can be loved unconditionally and I don’t have to be perfect. Because that’s really interesting.”

Disturbing Claims by Federline

Federline’s memoir alleges that Spears once stood in their doorway holding a knife while their children slept. In response, Spears expressed concern about his behavior. “Why is he so angry?” she questioned, noting his vindictiveness and her shock at his serious demeanor.

She noted that his book might “sell more” than her own memoir, “The Woman in Me,” and said, “If you truly loved someone, you wouldn’t help them by humiliating them.” She described the depth of his anger as “much worse than anyone could imagine,” adding that there’s a real hatred coming from him.

Spears and Federline were married for three years, having two sons, Jaden and Preston, before their divorce in 2006. Federline expressed concerns in his memoir about Spears’ erratic behavior post-divorce affecting their sons. However, Spears insisted she has “begged” for a relationship with them.

She reflected on the emotional toll of constant manipulation, saying, “The constant gaslighting from your ex-husband can be very hurtful and exhausting.” On October 15, she mentioned, “I have always begged and cried for my sons to live with me… Sadly, they are constantly witnessing the lack of respect that their own father shows towards me.”

A Mother’s Heart

Spears accused Federline of incorporating “white lies” into his book. She revealed that one son has seen her just 45 minutes in the last five years, while the other has only visited four times. “I’m proud too. From now on, I’ll let them know when I’m available,” she declared, emphasizing that, ultimately, it’s she who feels the pain.

“I will always love them,” she continued, “and if you really knew me you wouldn’t pay attention to the tabloids about my mental health or my drinking. In fact, I’m a very intelligent woman who has spent the past five years trying to live a sacred and private life. I speak about this because I’ve been through enough, and any real woman would do the same.”
