Britney Spears has recently asserted that she suffers from “brain damage” amid ongoing tension surrounding her ex-husband Kevin Federline’s upcoming memoir, “You Thought You Knew.”
“As some of you may know from the end of the book, I went through a traumatic experience, where for four months I lost my own door and was illegally forced to not use my legs or body to go anywhere,” the singer shared in a lengthy Instagram post on Sunday, referencing her own memoir, “The Woman in Me.”
At 43, Spears mentioned that this confinement had significantly impacted her. “The logic and mindfulness of my body as ONE was 100 percent killed and destroyed,” she said.
“I couldn’t dance or move for 5 months… I know my posts and dancing looked silly anyway, but it reminded me how to fly,” she wrote, reflecting on her situation.
“I feel like my wings were ripped off and I suffered a brain injury 100 percent a long time ago… Of course, I’ve recovered from that difficult time in my life and I’m happy to be alive,” she added.
In her post, which featured a photo of her riding a horse while wearing white pants and a black cowboy hat, Spears expressed that while it might “sound so stupid,” this message carries “substance” amidst the “garbage” being said about her.
Her remarks come as Federline gears up to release a memoir filled with sensational allegations regarding his time with Spears. He claims that he witnessed their sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James, while holding a knife and accuses Spears of various troubling behaviors, including using cocaine while breastfeeding and physically harming their eldest son.
In his book, Federline shares concerns about Spears’ behavior, suggesting she is “heading toward” a tragic fate. He writes, “From where I sit, the clock is ticking and the 11th hour is approaching. If things don’t change, something bad will happen. And my biggest fear is that my sons will be left behind.”
Spears has denied these allegations, suggesting that her ex is exploiting her pain for profit. “If you truly loved someone, you wouldn’t help them by humiliating them,” she tweeted, expressing her frustration with his approach. She further stated that Federline “hates” her and must be deeply angry to make such claims.
The couple married in September 2004 and had their two sons in 2005 and 2006 before divorcing three years later. Their relationship continued to be tumultuous, especially during the years of Spears’ conservatorship.
In 2023, Federline relocated to Hawaii with his sons and wife, Victoria Prince. His memoir is set to be released on Tuesday.
