Brittany Boltinghouse, the recently dethroned Miss North Carolina USA, has outright refused to apologize for a past social media post that included the N-word. She maintains that the reason she lost her title is tied to her religious and conservative beliefs.
Boltinghouse, who is 27, is considering legal action after being forced to return her crown due to accusations regarding troubling posts dated between 2017 and 2019.
“I’m not going to deny or shy away from those posts,” she stated in an interview with the Daily Mail. “I plan to address them in my lawsuit.” She believes her title was stripped not because of these posts but due to her political and religious perspectives.
“My rights were violated, and I intend to stand up for myself. They shaped the narrative, and now I’m here to change it,” she added.
When asked if she should issue an apology, she confidently responded, “No, there’s no need to.”
Boltinghouse has suggested that her conservative beliefs may have influenced the decision of the pageant organizers to strip her of her title, which she won in June. She identifies as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and believes her political views played a significant role in the actions taken against her.
“I take pride in my faith and my standards. I’m a conservative woman and a Christian, and I will not compromise my beliefs,” she expressed.
In response to Boltinghouse’s claims, Blaze Productions, which manages the pageants in North Carolina and other states, firmly denied that their decisions were motivated by her political or religious beliefs. They emphasized that their organization values diversity in backgrounds and beliefs.
The spokesperson stated that the decision to dethrone Boltinghouse involved “careful consideration of all the information, including conduct and public content over multiple years that did not meet the standards required of a titleholder.”
Now, Myra Hadley, the first runner-up, will represent North Carolina at the Miss USA pageant, which is set to take place on August 24 in Miami, Florida.
