Jason Whitlock Critiques Brittney Griner’s Game
Jason Whitlock, a host on BlazeTV, quickly identified some troubling plays in Brittney Griner’s recent basketball game. He remarked that Griner made “two of the worst, stupid fouls” he had witnessed on the court.
He described the second foul, in particular, as almost deliberate, noting that Griner elbowed Aliya Boston in the neck without any apparent reason.
Whitlock suggests this behavior reflects a broader mindset among some WNBA players. He stated, “We’re in debt, we’re being abused, we’re being victims,” laughing a bit as he continued, “If you have that mindset, then believing, ‘I’m a victim, we have to receive as much as men,’ that’s a recipe for corruption.”
He further criticized what he sees as a dangerous victim mentality perpetuated by the media, especially within certain demographics, suggesting it fosters a sense of entitlement. “I owe something. Give me compensation. I’ve been torn apart,” he commented.
Whitlock also brought up A’ja Wilson’s performance, expressing concern about her rocky start to her WNBA career, particularly noting an injury where it seemed like she might be bleeding.
He criticized Nike’s marketing strategies, indicating that the special shoes made for A’ja Wilson went largely unnoticed, failing to attract public interest.
Whitlock concluded that he wouldn’t be surprised if Wilson faces even more challenges as the season progresses.
