Brittney Griner Walks Out of Interview to Curse at Officials

Griner’s Courtside Outburst During Atlanta Dream Game

Television interviews definitely matter, but they can’t compete with the intensity of an official’s call.

During halftime of the Atlanta Dream’s game against the Dallas Wings, star forward Brittney Griner, standing tall at 6’9″, abruptly left her courtside CBS interview to vent her frustration loudly at a group of officials passing by.

“You better get better!” Griner shouted.

Her anger stemmed from what she believed was an unjust call, leading to growing tension between her and the referees. Griner has been struggling lately, having fouled out in her last two games and already racking up two fouls in the first half against the Wings.

Is her frustration affecting her gameplay? It seems that way; for the first time in three games, she managed not to foul out.

This season marks Griner’s debut with the Dream after spending eleven seasons with the Phoenix Mercury. She missed the 2022 season after being detained in Russia for carrying a vape cartridge with hashish oil in her luggage while trying to return home from the Russian Women’s Basketball League.
