Britney Griner is officially a mother.
The now 10-time WNBA All-Star recently gave birth to a baby boy with his wife, Sherrell. She appeared on CBS Sports’ “We Need to Talk” on friday.
The Griners welcomed their baby boy on July 8, weighing 7 pounds, 8 ounces.
The boy’s name has not been released.
“He’s my guy. He’s amazing,” Griner said. “They said when you look at them, everything you thought was important goes out the window, and that’s exactly what happened.”
Griner will compete for the United States and then go on to compete in the Paris Olympics, which begin next week.
Griner was a member of the U.S. Olympic gold medal-winning teams in 2016 and 2020, as well as the gold medal-winning World Cup teams in 2014 and 2018.
This weekend, Griner will be in Phoenix, where she has played her entire WNBA career, for the league’s All-Star Weekend.
The big game, which will take place on Saturday at 8:30pm ET, will see the WNBA All-Stars take on Griner and Team USA in a spectacular battle.
In the first matchup of 2021, the WNBA team defeated Team USA 93-83.
Griner, who has started all 15 games this season, is averaging 18.6 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game for the Mercurys.
