Brock Purdy Shines as 49ers Remain Undefeated
Brock Purdy is certainly making a case for himself as the top quarterback in the league after the first six weeks of the NFL season.
With a 6-0 start featuring over 15 total touchdowns and just two turnovers, Purdy joins Tom Brady as the only quarterbacks in history to achieve this feat. Brady accomplished it back in 2015 while playing for the Patriots, and now, over a decade later, Purdy is doing it with the San Francisco 49ers.
In the recent game against the Washington Commanders, a 23-17 victory on Monday Night Football, Purdy set a record as the highest-rated passer in NFL history (105.6) among those with at least 1,500 passing attempts. He also leads several key statistical categories among quarterbacks.
This season alone, Purdy has thrown for 1,460 yards, completed 14 touchdown passes, and added 156 rushing yards with another touchdown. He’s had two interceptions and has only been sacked five times throughout 2026.
While Purdy’s individual performance has been impressive, he was the first to commend the defense for their role in securing the sixth consecutive win.
“Obviously, offensively and for myself in the second half, it’s tough just to do what we did. Three-and-outs and there were some plays where I could have been better getting the ball out and whatnot instead of taking some sacks,” Purdy reflected after the game.
“For our defense to do what they did at the end, that was really impressive,” he added.
The 49ers continue their unbeaten streak with a flawless 6-0 record this year, even as they face a wave of injuries—a common challenge for the team. Yet, Purdy’s stellar play has transformed the 49ers into one of the most potent offenses in the league.
