Broncos dominate Bengals on 'Monday Night Football' with Bo Nix leading the way

Denver Broncos Triumph Over Cincinnati Bengals

The Denver Broncos marked a much-needed win by defeating the Cincinnati Bengals 28-3 at home on Monday night. Both teams had the same record of 2-2 entering this game, but the Bengals’ performance looked particularly bleak after another disappointing showing, this time with backup quarterback Jake Browning stepping in for the injured Joe Burrow.

Browning struggled significantly, mustering only 125 yards without any touchdowns or interceptions, which followed a mere 10 points in his previous game against the Minnesota Vikings.

Credit really has to go to the Broncos’ defense, which pressured Browning and registered three sacks while stopping the Bengals from converting on nine consecutive third downs to close out the game. Cincinnati only managed to convert two third downs, with both occurring during their initial drive.

On the offensive side, Broncos’ quarterback Bo Nix delivered a solid performance, throwing for 326 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception.

The Bengals scored first with a field goal on their opening drive, but the Broncos quickly responded. Nix ran a 3-5 yard rushing touchdown before the end of the first quarter, giving Denver a lead. Following that, the Broncos continued to build momentum, with Marvin Mims showcasing his speed on a 16-yard jet sweep. Cortland Sutton also came through with a 22-yard reception, helping to sustain the drive.

Sutton later secured a touchdown himself, catching a pass from Nix for another score just before halftime, putting the Broncos up 21-3. It could have been worse for the Bengals had it not been for an interception thrown by Nix when the Broncos were just two yards from the end zone.

In the second half, Bengals star receiver Ja’Marr Chase visibly expressed frustration toward head coach Zac Taylor as the team’s offense appeared completely stalled.

To seal their victory, the Broncos added another touchdown from a 12-yard connection with rookie RJ Harvey, culminating the score at 28-3. Interestingly, Harvey became the first Broncos player in 38 games to rush for over 100 yards, finishing with 101 yards on 16 carries. Sutton led the team in receiving yards with 81 from five receptions, while Mims contributed six catches for 69 yards.

For the Bengals, the Broncos’ defense kept both Chase and Tee Higgins constrained, limiting them to a total of just eight catches for 55 yards. The team’s discipline also faltered, as they incurred more penalties than first downs, which poses a concern heading into next week’s matchup against the Detroit Lions.
