USC head basketball coach Andy Enfield spoke to reporters Thursday after James played his first full-contact practice since suffering cardiac arrest over the summer.
Asked if James was due to make his debut on Sunday, the Enfield manager said: “We think so.”
“Today was his first day of contact practice. He looked good. He has to get his timing back and get into shape for his game, but I think today was a good first day.”

According to ESPN, Enfield said James will have one more practice on Friday, and the team will decide whether to make his debut Sunday after seeing how James feels and the medical team's decision.
James suffered a heart attack on July 24 during practice, months before the start of his first college basketball season at USC. The incident occurred where the Trojans were playing and practicing, and he was released from the hospital three days later after suffering a medical emergency.
Doctors later revealed that the cardiac arrest was probably caused by “.Congenital heart defect.”
James was cleared to fully return to basketball in late November, about four months after his cardiac arrest.
“He's been training without contact for a while,” Enfield said. “So he's been doing some cardio, weight training and some shooting. He's also been able to do some individual training. We're happy with his progress.”

Enfield said James “feels great” and “looks good,” but added that James will be limited to one minute at the beginning of the year.
“I think everyone is excited about his progress and the fact that he's a part of this,” Enfield told reporters. “He's been through a lot physically and mentally and we're just looking forward to him.
“We couldn't predict when he would come back. It's great that he's back here now. There's still a lot of season left. We're only a quarter of the way through the season. , the fact that he's back and able to play three-quarters of a basketball season is unbelievable.”
