Bronwyn Vance’s Stunning Debut at Le Bal des Debutantes

This weekend, Bronwyn Vance made a memorable entrance at Le Bal des Debutantes, a prestigious event held at the Shangri-La Paris Hotel. At 19 years old, she is the daughter of renowned actors Angela Bassett and Courtney B. Vance.

For her debut, Bronwyn wore an eye-catching custom haute couture dress designed by Stéphane Rolland. The gown featured a dramatic white tulle skirt and a sweetheart neckline with puffed, off-the-shoulder sleeves, adorned with delicate gold floral appliqués throughout its design.

She was one of about 20 young debutantes in attendance, among a mix of fashion heirs and even princesses. In an interesting twist, Bronwyn chose her twin brother, Slater Vance, as her escort for the evening. She affectionately referred to him as her “natural best friend,” which, I guess, makes sense in a setting like this.

Reflecting on the honor of being invited to such an exclusive ball, Bronwyn shared with Elle, “I wanted to be a part of something so beautiful and so spectacular that I would probably never experience it again.” I mean, it’s one of those once-in-a-lifetime moments, right?

Her family supported her during this special occasion. Angela Bassett, at 67, looked elegant in a strapless silver Jenny Packham dress, while Courtney B. Vance, 65, opted for a classic tuxedo. The traditional father-daughter waltz they participated in certainly added a touch of sentimentality to the night.

“I feel like a princess for one night,” Bronwyn expressed, emphasizing how the event aimed to make the young women feel uniquely special, if only for that evening. It’s understandable; who wouldn’t want a night like that?

Interestingly, the Bassett-Vance family had attended a haute couture show by Stéphane Rolland in Paris just a few months earlier, in July.

Among the other notable debutantes was Carolina Lansing, 21, granddaughter of famed designer Carolina Herrera. She paid tribute to her grandmother by wearing a striking black and white polka dot dress, designed by Wes Gordon, reflecting the label’s inaugural runway collection from 1981. Carolina was escorted by her younger brother, Magnus, which seems like a lovely sibling moment.

Another standout was Mrs. Araminta Spencer-Churchill, 18, the daughter of Charles James Spencer-Churchill, Duke of Marlborough. She turned heads in a bejeweled taupe gown by Armani Prive.

This annual event has become quite well-known, with past attendees including the likes of Lily Collins and Lori Harvey. I suppose calling it a “nepo baby Met Gala” is somewhat fitting, given the lineage of many in attendance.
