Livestream Concert by Kneecap Amid Controversy

A theater in Brooklyn plans to host a livestream concert featuring the Irish punk band Kneecap, coinciding with the two-year anniversary of the October 7 terrorist attacks in Israel. This event comes just days after the group scrapped their U.S. tour, which faced backlash due to allegations of anti-Semitism.

The band will perform from “A Secret Place in Ireland” on October 10. Kneecap drew significant criticism and lost their U.S. visa sponsorship following their performance at Coachella in 2025, where they shouted “f— Israel, liberate Palestine.”

Mo Challa, one of the band members, was previously tried under UK terrorism laws for allegedly waving a Hezbollah flag while chanting “Hamas, Hezbollah” at a concert in November 2024, although the case was dismissed later.

Protesters and Reactions

A recent edition of the “Colombian Intifada” newspaper discussed justifications for Hamas’ attacks, as protests continued around the anniversary of the attacks on Israel.

As the livestream concert approaches, it follows a memorial service honoring the victims of the October 7 attacks, where more than 1,200 Israelis were killed, marking the deadliest day for Jews since the Holocaust. The assault included attacks on the Nova music festival, home invasions, civilian kidnappings, and widespread sexual violence, as described by Israeli officials and survivors.

Brooklyn is noteworthy for hosting New York City’s largest Jewish population, with over 460,000 Jews residing in the borough. The organization Stop Antisemitism condemned King’s Theater for supporting and profiting from this concert so soon after such a tragic anniversary. A spokesperson expressed outrage, emphasizing that it is shocking to see a venue embrace such sentiments in a borough with a significant Jewish community.

This event comes shortly after Israel and Hamas reached an agreement relating to President Trump’s historic peace deal concerning Gaza. Under the terms discussed, all 20 Israeli hostages would be released together, and the remains of deceased hostages would be returned in exchange for a ceasefire and the release of hundreds of Palestinian prisoners serving time for terrorism-related offenses.

The specifics of the deal suggest a plan to fully disarm Hamas, the establishment of a “peace council” led by Trump, and the formation of a new Palestinian government to oversee the Gaza Strip during its reconstruction.

Neither King’s Theater nor Kneecap responded to requests for comments regarding the concert.
