Jose Ibarra now faces up to 10 years in prison.
On February 22, Riley went for a morning jog around the University of Georgia. When she didn’t return, her roommate called the police, who found her body later that day in a wooded area on campus. Riley’s body showed signs of blunt force trauma.
The next day, Antonio Ybarra was arrested and charged with Riley’s kidnapping and murder. Antonio Ibarra is an illegal alien from Venezuela who crossed the southern border in September 2022 and was subsequently released into the interior of the United States.
Antonio Ybarra was arrested in Queens, New York in September 2023, less than six months after Riley’s murder, on suspicion of injury to a child under 17, but was turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
