The family of a mother of five children allegedly killed by an illegal immigrant slammed the Biden administration on Tuesday night. “We opened the borders.” to the man who allegedly murdered her.
Rachel Morin’s brother, Michael Morin, spoke at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Morin was killed in August while jogging on a trail near her Maryland home. Police found her body in a culvert, covered in bruises and with severe head trauma.
“Rachel was a cheerful girl, a talented athlete and mother of five children, who was raped and murdered by a man she suspected of being an illegal immigrant,” Michael Morin told the Republican National Convention audience. “This is being called one of the most brutal and violent crimes in the history of Harford County, Maryland.”

Victor Antonio Martinez Hernandez, 23, is charged with six counts, including first-degree murder, rape and kidnapping, in connection with the death of Rachel Morin, authorities said. Martinez HernandezHe has suspected gang ties and fled his home country in February 2023 after an arrest warrant was issued for him there for the murder of a woman.

“Open borders are often portrayed as a compassionate and noble act, but allowing violent criminals into our country and robbing mothers of their children is not a compassionate act,” he said.
He then criticized the Biden administration over its border policies.

“Joe Biden and his nominee for border secretary, Kamala Harris, have opened the border to him and others like him, empowering them to victimize innocent people,” he said.
He said he hasn’t heard from the White House, but he has heard from former President Donald Trump.
The speech came on the second day of the Republican National Convention, whose theme was “Make America Safe Again,” as Republicans repeatedly blamed the administration for the ongoing crisis at the southern border and accused it of stoking it by opening the border and rolling back Trump-era policies.
Before Morin spoke, attendees heard an emotional speech from Ann Fundner, a mother who lost her son to fentanyl.

The Biden administration has been working to resolve the hemisphere-wide crisis but says it has struggled because of Congress’ failure to provide funding and comprehensive immigration reform.
But officials say the number of people crossing the border has been declining since President Biden issued an executive order last month restricting some border crossings. Officials say the number of people crossing the border since then has fallen by 50%.
