Browns coach Todd Monken skips NFL coaches group photo due to a haircut error

Todd Monken Misses Group Photo as Cleveland Browns Head Coach

Todd Monken was eagerly anticipating his first photo shoot as the head coach of the Cleveland Browns. The occasion was a big one, with all 32 coaches expected to gather in Phoenix for the annual NFL league conference. However, Monken didn’t join the group for the photo.

The reason behind his absence? A haircut. Monken had specifically cut his hair for the event, timing it to be just right, and had even noted that the photo shoot was set for noon Pacific time.

To his surprise, Monken learned that the group photo had already taken place when he bumped into Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Liam Cohen. He wasn’t actually late; the meeting was called off early, and the coaches snapped a photo without him. Interestingly, he wasn’t the only one missing from the shot—Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay was also absent.

Although he missed the photo, Monken didn’t hold back on discussing the Browns’ quarterback situation as he gears up for his first season. The focus is on whether he and his staff will select a starting quarterback for the team, particularly with Deshaun Watson expected to return next season after his injury.

With Browns’ offseason programs kicking off on April 7, Monken was asked if he had a clear idea of who might be QB1. While he didn’t clarify his depth chart preferences, he did mention that the reps won’t be evenly distributed among the quarterbacks, suggesting that he has someone specific in mind but isn’t ready to reveal it just yet.

“I don’t think the reps will be divided equally,” Monken stated, hinting that he plans to follow strategies from the past season.

It seems that, among the three QBs in the mix, Sanders might have an edge. Watson is still recovering from an Achilles injury, and former coach Kevin Stefanski had Sanders starting in the remaining games after Gabriel’s struggles. Sanders even notched his first win against the Las Vegas Raiders.

Of course, it remains to be seen what direction the Browns will take as they prepare for the upcoming program next week.
