Browns surprise Packers with a thrilling last-minute field goal for their first victory

Browns Shock Packers with Last-Second Field Goal

In a surprising turn of events, the Cleveland Browns managed to grab their first win of the season on Sunday, defeating the Green Bay Packers 13-10 with a walk-off field goal. This loss marked the Packers’ first defeat of the year, and it was quite the nail-biter.

Cleveland’s defense was notably effective against the Packers’ typically high-scoring offense, which usually averages around 27 points per game. In a game where their own offense struggled to find its footing, the Browns managed to sack quarterback Jordan Love five times.

As the fourth quarter began, the Browns found themselves trailing 10-0, with Joe Flacco and the offense unable to establish any rhythm against one of the NFL’s top defenses. But, there were glimmers of hope from Cleveland’s defense.

Finally breaking the silence on the scoreboard, the Browns kicked a field goal. Then, safety Grant Delpit intercepted Love and returned it to the 8-yard line with 3:38 remaining. Rookie running back Quinshon Judkins followed up with a one-yard touchdown run, tying the game after the extra point.

Despite the Browns’ momentum, the Packers still had time to snatch victory. They progressed into field goal range for Brandon McManus, who was set to attempt a 43-yard kick with just 27 seconds left. But, in a dramatic moment, Cleveland blocked the attempt. Greg Newsom picked up the loose ball and was tackled near midfield.

Flacco connected with tight end David Njoku, which set the stage for rookie kicker Andre Szmyt. On a critical play, he nailed a 55-yard field goal just as time expired, sending the Browns fans into a frenzy.

Flacco finished with a 21-for-31 performance, accumulating 142 yards and one interception, while Judkins rushed for 94 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries.

Meanwhile, Packers running back Josh Jacobs, who had been on a touchdown streak, was limited to just 30 yards on 16 carries. Love ended the game with 183 yards, one touchdown, and an interception.
