Bruce Springsteen’s New Tour
Bruce Springsteen seems to be experiencing what some might call severe Kimmelitis.
Jimmy Kimmel, the former host of “The Man Show,” once remarked he wasn’t particularly concerned about losing Republican viewers due to his shows’ leftward tilt. “Not a good banishment but a banishment,” he joked, demonstrating his characteristic humor.
The Council on American-Islamic Relations has expressed outrage over the Kennedy Center’s decision to honor Mark Twain with its Humor Award.
Now, the 76-year-old musical icon is gearing up for an anti-Trump tour. He’s coming in with a message from No Kings and, one hopes, enough fiber-rich snacks in the tour bus. He seems quite unfazed by the possibility of losing fans along the way.
“I’m not fretting about whether we’re going to lose part of the audience,” he stated. “I’ve always felt strong about the cultural landscape we inhabit. Backlash is part of the territory, and I’m ready for that.”
However, his fan base is indeed dwindling, and with ticket prices rising, it makes you wonder how many of them will stick around.
Josh Duhamel’s Take on Hollywood
Josh Duhamel, while not exactly an A-list celebrity, has some perspectives that could resonate with others in Hollywood.
In a more refined manner, he has challenged his peers, especially after the “Shotgun Wedding.” He seemed to suggest that they ought to stick to acting and keep their political opinions to themselves. After all, a political stance might risk losing half their audience.
“I have strong views, but I don’t talk about them,” he explained. “Why would I alienate anyone? People can believe what they want, and I respect that.”
One imagines that Johnny Carson might be smiling at this sentiment from the beyond…
What’s Next for ‘The X-Files’?
The truth is out there, but whether anyone will recognize it is another story.
Oscar-winning director Ryan Coogler is pushing ahead with a reboot of ‘The X-Files,’ featuring actors Himesh Patel and Daniel Deadwyler. Are they stepping into the shoes of Mulder and Scully? Not quite.
How does a co-star from the original series fare without Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny? The show’s creator, Chris Carter, will be acting as an executive producer. But let’s face it, that often just means a token credit with minimal involvement.
To the Hollywood machine, the brand recognition matters far more than anything. Just hoping for a signature moment—like a character having a smoke—otherwise, it might lead to some discontent among fans.
CAIR’s Reaction
Meanwhile, CAIR is quite upset.
The Council on American-Islamic Relations has criticized the Kennedy Center for selecting Mark Twain as the recipient of its Humor Award, especially given the controversial remarks of comedian Bill Maher.
Maher tends not to shy away from sensitive subjects regarding religion, and he often raises eyebrows with his commentary—which sometimes puts him at odds with fellow celebrities who tend to stay silent. CAIR had some pointed words regarding Maher’s opinions.
They implied that had Maher made similar comments against Jewish communities, he wouldn’t have received the recognition he did. But his views on Muslims have apparently drawn a different reaction.
Sydney Sweeney Stirs the Pot
If you thought the left already had a problem with Sidney Sweeney, this latest move might just push it over the edge.
Last year, her light-hearted joking about the words “genes” and “jeans” in an American Eagle ad upset many, revealing a lot about the critics themselves.
However, she seems to be taking the backlash in stride, along with the company American Eagle, which saw its stock rise due to the commercial’s success.
Now, Sweeney is showing support for her brother, who is currently serving in the U.S. military overseas. She expressed her gratitude and goodwill toward all military personnel.
“Thinking of all the boys and girls overseas and sending my love! Thank you for all your efforts!” she shared.
At the same time, a late-night comedian is taking shots at America. Meanwhile, actors like Javier Bardem are advocating against military interventions. It’s a lot, honestly.
I guess one could say Sweeney has really stepped into the fray here.
