A man was arrested Saturday in the Bronx after he allegedly raped a woman after asking her for directions, police said.
The 35-year-old victim was walking around 1 a.m. on August 5 near Bergen Avenue and East 149th Street when he was approached by a man asking for directions.
Officers said the assailant then forced her to have sex with him in a “dark area” before fleeing east on East 149th Street toward Brook Avenue.
The victim was transported to NYC Health Hospital/Lincoln in stable condition.
Police said Papa Diop, 38, was identified from a wanted photo and arrested on suspicion of first-degree rape.
The NYPD’s Bronx Special Victims Unit is investigating, police said.
