In a chilling encounter that occurred just weeks before the murders of four students, Brian Kohberger reportedly questioned a woman he matched with on a dating app about those very killings.
This unsettling interaction was revealed in newly released police documents following Kohberger’s sentencing to life in prison for the 2022 slayings.
The woman, referred to only as “C,” reported to the police that she had matched with Kohberger but ended the conversation when it took a dark turn.
After discussing local murders from years past, Kohberger asked about her favorite horror film. According to the police report, when she mentioned a Rob Zombie Halloween movie, he followed up with a grim inquiry about the worst method of killing.
“She responded with ‘a knife,'” the report indicated.
Kohberger then inquired, “What is the effect of ‘Ka Bar?'” This pointed question is notable because he had purchased a military-style knife from that brand prior to the murders.
The woman mentioned to the police that she had to look up the knife online and decided to stop conversing with Kohberger afterwards.
When she reported this incident, it was unclear if she had any substantial evidence, as she no longer had access to her Tinder account.
This eerie episode was just one of many details highlighted in the police files that ultimately led to Kohberger’s capture.
Documents also revealed that he had pleaded guilty to avoid the death penalty and received four life sentences on November 13, 2022, for the murders of Xana Kernodle, Kaylee Goncalves, Madison Mogen, and Ethan Chapin.
