Bryce Dallas Howard Reflects on Her Unique Childhood

Bryce Dallas Howard, the 44-year-old actress from “Jurassic World,” has some unconventional childhood memories. Growing up as the daughter of filmmaker Ron Howard, she had interests that set her apart.

In a recent interview, she humorously described herself as a “very messed up kid” who once wandered around reading Disney stories about euthanasia. “But I wasn’t dark either,” she clarified. “There was a certain strength in my feelings and the stories I was interested in,” she noted.

Blythe shared that she faced “many difficulties in learning and communicating” during her early years. “I was always very happy and smiling, but very unverbal,” she explained, adding that it was often uncertain how she was processing things. Her parents sought help, taking her to a psychologist who jokingly asked, “Can you talk about a dead baby? Because Blythe talks about a lot of things about a dead baby,” which left them laughing.

The “Rocketman” actress spent much of her childhood on her father’s film sets, though she was advised to stay out of the actors’ way. Instead, she spent time with the camera crew and learned the ins and outs of filmmaking. It wasn’t until high school that she truly considered acting as a potential career.

Even with her rise to fame, Blythe mentioned that she often goes unrecognized. “I live a completely normal life,” she said, reflecting on her relative anonymity despite her success. “I’m trapped and don’t leave that much, but I was incredibly lucky too.” She added that she never had to deal with paparazzi following her around.

In another interview, she addressed her status as a “nepo baby.” “I happen to be in a situation where there is a class of privilege,” she admitted, acknowledging the advantages of having a famous family. “Even if you were born into it, you have access in a way that most people wouldn’t,” she remarked.

Blythe continued, discussing the common question she faces about whether her background is a disadvantage in her career. “When you’re an actor, you need to get the attention of a casting director or director,” she pointed out, reflecting on the complexities of her situation.
