The country's top college football recruits are changing allegiances.
Bryce Underwood reversed his commitment to the University of Michigan on Thursday, making it official in a social media post.
Underwood had committed to LSU on Jan. 6, but Wolverines coach Sherone Moore pushed hard to convince the Michigan native to stay in the state.
The highly touted prospect made the announcement in a highly produced video that featured a clip of a younger Underwood pretending to announce his admission to the University of Michigan.
The video also showed old clips of him as a kid in Michigan gear, as well as clips of him playing over the years.
Years later, Underwood appears to have come full circle with the decision announced Thursday.
Interestingly, Underwood played his high school football at Belleville High School, where former Michigan football staff member Connor Stallions is currently an assistant coach.
On3 reported last week that Michigan State made a $10.5 million NIL offer to entice Underwood to attend Ann Arbor.
Chater first surfaced in October that Michigan was working hard to upset Underwood. According to On3and now his decision appears to paint Michigan as a potential contender next year.
“A premier arm talent who is one of the most talented high school quarterback prospects in recent years. His combination of arm strength, pocket feel, and processing ability makes him a top quarterback in the 2025 cycle. “He will be,” On3 wrote in Underwood’s scouting summary.
Underwood rose to national prominence in 2021, when he threw for 2,888 yards and 39 touchdowns as a freshman at Belleville.
Belleville is the favorite to win its third state championship in four years this season.
