Bryson DeChambeau: LIV Golf only getting “bigger, badder, better than ever before”

Bryson DeChambeau feels pretty bullish about the future of LIV Golf, which continues to host tournaments around the world.

“We know this situation is going to be bigger, worse and better than ever,” DeChambeau said in Singapore on Thursday.

“We’re going to see continued growth over the next five to 10 years. What I see is there’s going to be a lot more interaction between teams. I think there’s going to be a lot more competition between teams. There’s already been some fights. is happening, but [it will only grow as] Years pass and people win championships. ”

DeChambeau fully embraces the team he captains, the Crushers GC. England’s Paul Casey, America’s Charles Howell III and India’s Anirban Lahiri round out the team.

“We have a lot of great players here on the Crushers, and we’re very fortunate to be able to pick them early. We’ve stuck together like glue, gorilla glue,” DeChambeau said.

“They’re just solid guys. More importantly, yes, we’re good at golf and we’re very good on the golf course, but they’re just great people to hang out with. Great family guys. That’s what I really appreciate about them.”

The team aspect of LIV Golf hasn’t caught on in the American market as much as officials had hoped. But golf fans got a taste of what LIV Golf will be like at last week’s LIV Golf Adelaide event.

It was one hell of a party as nearly 100,000 fans gathered at South Australia’s Grange Golf Club. Most of those in attendance were rooting for Rippers GC, an Australian team led by Cameron Smith. Lucas Herbert, Matt Jones and Marc Leishman round out the team.

In a thrilling play-off, the all-Australian team defeated Louis Oosthuizen’s South African team, Stinger GC. Rippers GC then celebrated the win in front of the home fans, including LIV Golf CEO Greg Norman drinking from his shoes.

Australian fans couldn’t stop rooting for Rippers GC, creating a hostile atmosphere for the South Africans. It was an atmosphere rarely seen outside of the Ryder Cup or Presidents Cup.

Now, LIV Golf and its 13 teams will head to Singapore for their fourth event in the Eastern Hemisphere in 2024.

“It’s great to be able to inspire young people in this part of the world. I think those of us from the States who were able to see professional golf at a very high level when we were young were all too lucky, but it’s different here. ” DeChambeau said about playing in Asia again.

“It’s certainly exciting for me to see an individual’s eye shine in people, but it doesn’t even have to be juniors. Older adults who love the game see us too. , we’re grateful to be here and we’re excited to offer more of that as the year progresses.”

Sentosa Golf Club, one of the best courses in the world, is hosting another LIV golf event this week. Last year in Singapore, Taylor Gooch defeated Sergio Garcia in a playoff to win the championship.

The course was used as the setting for the Singapore Open, one of Asia’s most prestigious golf tournaments. However, due to the rise of LIV Golf, tournament organizers canceled the event after the 2022 tournament. Adam Scott has won the Singapore Open three times, other winners include Garcia, Matt Kuchar, Ian Poulter and Angel Cabrera.

Despite this, Singapore still has a professional golf tournament to be proud of. LIV Golf takes pride in bringing the game to the masses around the world, particularly in Asia and Australia.

“We see the global game of golf growing at a very high level. I think it’s exciting for everyone involved in the game because we’re reaching markets that we haven’t been able to reach before.” ” DeChambeau added.

“I think this will lead to more golf courses, more manufacturers selling clubs and equipment, and an incentive for young kids to try playing golf professionally. LIV Golf Excitement and Presence We believe that the game of golf will continue to grow on a global scale.”
