Bryson DeChambeau is well on his way to winning his first green jacket, but not without some heavy lifting, literally.
The powerful LIV star was the sole leader with seven under par through the first round, but on Friday he shot a 1-over 73, putting him in a three-way tie with tournament favorites and 2022 champion Scottie Scheffler and Max Homa. Ta.

Incidentally, his plan worked perfectly, as he birdied the hole and finished the tournament at 8 under par.

DeChambeau dropped two strokes in the final five holes, but his imagination certainly paid off.
Despite previously saying the course was a par 68, he famously struggled at Augusta National. His best finish at the Masters was T21 in 2016, when he made his Masters debut as a low amateur. He failed to qualify in each of the last two tournaments, but now he finds himself looking down on everyone (except Scheffler and Homa).
