Bryson DeChambeau shares a feasible alternative to LIV Golf

What’s Next for Bryson DeChambeau?

All attention is on Bryson DeChambeau and his potential moves, particularly regarding membership in a professional golf tour.

In a recent interview with Front Office Sports, the 32-year-old LIV Golf star mentioned that, with ongoing contract talks with the Saudi-backed league alongside the PGA Tour’s influence, concentrating on YouTube while competing in major championships—without being tied to a golf circuit—might be a really promising direction to explore.

“It’s an incredibly viable option, I’ll tell you that,” DeChambeau expressed. He highlighted his popular YouTube series “Break 50,” featuring well-known names like Stephen Curry, Tom Brady, and even former President Donald Trump, which has attracted 2.57 million subscribers.

“Doing the Course Record Series and playing ‘Break 50s’ lets me stay focused on tournament golf. That’s why I usually do it right before a match. It’s a feasible, financial opportunity, and I’m looking forward to what the future brings,” he said.

While DeChambeau’s immediate future seems linked to LIV, it’s unclear what lies ahead post that phase. “We’re currently in negotiations and hope to arrive at a solution that is beneficial for everyone in the long run,” he noted, adding, “If not, we’ll just have to see what happens.”

A two-time U.S. Open champion, DeChambeau is among the few LIV golfers who are eligible to return to the PGA Tour due to the new Returning Member Program introduced recently.

This program will end on February 2 and aims to allow high-profile golfers who have won a Players Championship or major between 2022 and 2025 to rejoin the PGA Tour with some penalties involved.

DeChambeau, along with Jon Rahm (the 2023 Masters champion) and Cam Smith (the 2022 British Open champion), has met the return criteria thanks to his victory at the 2024 U.S. Open.

The three golfers reaffirmed their commitment to LIV on Tuesday. “I’m under contract now, and I’m eager to see what I can accomplish with LIV Golf this year,” DeChambeau said.

Koepka, who left LIV in December after a four-season tenure, is set to return to the PGA Tour this month at the Farmers Insurance Open.
