Bryson DeChambeau takes victory at LIV Golf Korea, marking his first win since the 2024 U.S. Open.

The golf season has already seen some remarkable victories this year.

Rory McIlroy took home the Masters title, setting a high bar for others, but the upcoming PGA Championship at Quail Hollow presents another chance for athletes to rise to the occasion.

It’s worth noting that Rory had a stronger showing at Augusta last month compared to his rival, Bryson DeChambeau. While Bryson didn’t make it to the top at the Masters, he did secure a second-place finish at the PGA Championship in Valhalla last year and was also ahead of McIlroy at the US Open in Pinehurst.

These narratives are just part of what makes golf intriguing; the interplay between competitors adds depth to the sport. Recently, Bryson stirred things up again when he claimed his first victory since Pinehurst at LIV Golf Korea.

To clinch victory, Bryson recorded a solid final round score of 66, placing him ahead of Charles Howell III. This win marked DeChambeau’s third title on the LIV tour, but it was also significant as his first win of 2023 and the first time he led after a final round. In previous tournaments in Miami and Mexico City, he faced challenges closing out similar leads, and he had also led at Augusta.

Bryson’s team secured another victory in the LIV tournament this week, making for a strong performance overall. It’s worth remembering, though, that he finished second at Valhalla last year, with Zander Schauffele taking his first major title. Clearly, he seems to be in some of the best form he’s enjoyed in a while.

As it stands, Bryson appears to be the LIV player with the best chance at the Wanamaker trophy in a couple of weeks. It’ll be interesting to see how things unfold—especially considering whether golfers like McIlroy, who has had great success at Quail Hollow, or Justin Thomas, the RBC Heritage winner, can shake things up.
