Bubba Watson speaks out against LIV Golf fan after Lee Westwood's practice is disrupted

Bubba Watson confronted a fan during the LIV Golf event in Indianapolis on Friday after the spectator shouted during Lee Westwood’s pre-shot routine.

Watson was playing alongside Westwood and Bryson DeChambeau when the incident happened at The Club at Chatham Hills. The fan’s outburst interrupted Westwood, causing him to step away from the ball and turn towards the disturbance.

In a video clip, Watson is seen visibly upset as he directs his frustration at the unruly fan, saying, “Oh, you don’t want to say anything now? Say something, I’m looking at you, say it.”

A soft voice responded with, “I love you Bubba,” but Watson remained focused on the fan before ultimately returning to the green.

This event in Indianapolis marks the conclusion of LIV’s season, which has been quite tumultuous. For months, the future of the league has been uncertain after it was revealed that the Saudi Public Investment Fund would withdraw its financial support after this season, prompting LIV Golf CEO Scott O’Neil to seek new investments.

Earlier this month, LIV announced it had acquired funding to continue operations, although many questions persist, and details have been scarce. Following the final round, DeChambeau shared his thoughts on the future of the league during the LIV broadcast, expressing optimism about the “lot of potential moving forward.”

He remarked, “I have great thoughts about what could happen next year. I wish I could be more up front about it, but ultimately, I’m proud of what we’ve done. There have been ups and downs, and while not everything was perfect, we’ve managed to accomplish a lot.”

He concluded by emphasizing that their approach brought something different to golf, and he takes pride in that.
