Buccaneers and Their Families Relocate to New Orleans as Hurricane Milton Looms

It may seem strange to hear about people running away, but to New Orleans avoiding the Hurricanes is exactly what the Tampa Bay Buccaneers did.

As Hurricane Milton, a powerful Category 3 storm, makes landfall just south of Tampa, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and their families will be resting at home in one of their division rivals, New Orleans.

“Thinking comprehensively, everything went smoothly”Coach Todd Bowles said after the team's Wednesday practice at Tulane University. “We pulled the team out. We got their families out. We got their pets and everything else out. You know, family is number one right now. It's important. We want physical things to be replaced, we want everyone to be safe, and we want everyone to evacuate even if they can't hunker down safely.”

Moving an entire team, the rest of the organization, and their families is no easy task. Travel requires two chartered planes, Pro Football Talk report More than 200 hotel rooms have been reserved for the organization.

Quarterback Baker Mayfield emphasized the need for homes and people left behind in Florida.

“Pray a lot,” Mayfield said. “That's outside of our control. I mean, we can do whatever we need to do to prepare our homes and homes wherever we are. Other than that, there's really nothing we can do. The next step is to evacuate everyone, putting safety first. If possible, I want everyone to listen to the mandatory evacuation.

“So when a storm comes, the preparation step is to compartmentalize one step at a time. And once we get out of there, today I want to give hope to Floridians, especially people in our region, I realized it might be the kind of Sunday I look forward to watching.”

The Bucks will play the Saints on Sunday.
