Social media users have accused Buckingham Palace of shaming Meghan by releasing a new ad.
On Wednesday, the official Instagram account of Buckingham Palace Shop, the royal gift shop, posted a video of a strawberry jam filling. The promo clip was shared just days after Markle, 42, debuted her own strawberry jam, the first product from her new lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard.
“Our Strawberry Preserves are made with only the finest berries and can be enjoyed in a variety of delicious ways,” Buckingham Palace Shop wrote in the caption, along with a strawberry emoji.

The caption went on to suggest several ways to enjoy the jam, including “as part of a cream tea, on a scone, on a crumpet, on a croissant, on toast.”

In the video, a woman was seen spreading jam on recommended baked goods. The Buckingham Palace shop also asked its followers to join in the comments section and share their favorite ways to use strawberry jam.
However, royal fans pointed out that the timing of the gift shop ad appeared to overshadow the Duchess of Sussex’s new products.

“Am I the only one who loves subtle shades,” one Instagram user wrote.
Another fan added, “The timing of this ad is killing me.”
One follower pointed out: “That’s how you promote your products.”
“Wait, did the palace just subtly troll Ms. Montecito?!” Social media users said that Markle was with husband Prince Harry, 39, and children Prince Archie, 4, and Princess Lilibet, 2. He commented, referring to the California city where they live together.

The Duchess of Sussex sent jars of strawberry jam to friends, revealing that it would be the first product from American Riviera Orchards.
On April 15, fashion designer Tracy Robbins and photographer Delfina Blaquier, wife of polo player Nacho Figueras, first shared a photo of strawberry jam on their Instagram Stories.

American Riviera Orchard’s first trademark application was filed in February and included textile products, cutlery, “jelly, jam, marmalade” and various food spreads. The application also states that the brand may feature “coffee service in the nature of tableware, tea service in the nature of tableware, tableware for serving food and drinks, decanters” and other beverage ware. It is also said that there is a sex.
Additionally, the application states that cookbooks and retail space should also be included in the application.
But Markle suggested there was more to expect from American Riviera Orchard. The duchess filed two additional trademark applications on March 9 and March 19, expanding her lifestyle brand to include cosmetics and gardening.
The March 9 application listed items such as bath soaps, body creams, cosmetics, fragrance oils, fragrances and incense. Also listed are “non-medicated skin care preparations, bath and shower gels and salts for non-medical purposes, and non-medicated hair preparations.”

The most recent application, dated March 19, states: “Garden tool gift set consisting of a gardening trowel, garden weeding fork, gardening shears, a bag specialized for holding gardening hand tools, and gardening hand tools.” The range of the brand has been expanded.
American Riviera Orchard’s strawberry jam is not yet available for purchase, and it is unclear when it will be available. In the meantime, fans can join the waiting list on the brand’s website.
