The father of Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive back Antwon Winfield Jr. strongly hinted Wednesday night that his son has been ruled out of the Pro Bowl selection.
Winfield was named alternate along with tackle Tristan Wirfs, quarterback Baker Mayfield and defensive lineman Vita Vea. Wide receiver Mike Evans had 10 consecutive seasons with over 1,000 yards receiving and was the only Tampa Bay player selected to the Pro Bowl.

Antwan Winfield Sr. insisted his son play in the Pro Bowl. Winfield Jr. had interceptions (3), passes defended (12), fumble recoveries (5), sacks (5), total tackles (117), solo tackles (73), assisted tackles (44), and QB hits ( 7) – One game left.
The eldest son, Winfield, posted a screenshot of a post by Fox Sports NFC South reporter Greg Orman comparing his son's stats to those of Arizona Cardinals safety Budda Baker. Baker was named the starter despite having zero interceptions and 77 tackles, playing in just 11 games.

“We demand redemption,” Winfield Sr. wrote on Instagram. “(NFL) Someone needs to explain something!!! This is ridiculous. Budda Baker is going to the Pro Bowl before my little guy with no grades and nothing. How important is the Pro Bowl on a resume? I know, but it just so happens that it's his contract year.
“We're not going to go after the bulls—. Somebody's gonna have to yell at me.”

Winfield Sr. was a three-time Pro Bowler during his NFL career.
Pro Bowl starters are determined by fan voting, player voting, and coaches. Each will be responsible for his one-third of the roster composition.

If one of the designated safeties drops out, Winfield will be available. He was a Pro Bowler in 2021.
