Bud Light sales down nearly 30% year over year as rivals continue to climb

Anheuser-Busch InBev’s beleaguered Bud Light brand is still struggling to bring back the customers it lost after last year’s controversial partnership with transgender activist Dylan Mulvaney.

Bud Light’s sales for the week ending January 20, 2024, were down 29.9% from a year earlier, according to the latest numbers provided to FOX Business by Bump Williams Consulting, which analyzed Nielsen IQ data.

Sales for AB’s flagship Budweiser brand also fell 15% on an annualized basis during the week, while competitors’ sales rose.

Molson Coors Coors Light sales increased 12.2%, Miller Lite sales increased 6.9% and Yuengling Light sales jumped 72.3%.

Modelo Especial, a Mexican lager owned by Constellation Brands, also had an even stronger edge against Bud Light, with sales up 10.8% for the week compared to the same period in 2023, with Modelo leading the way to AB It overtook the brand and became Mexico’s best-selling beer.America

Bud Light’s U.S. sales began to decline in April of last year, shortly after the brand created and sent custom beer cans to commemorate Mulvaney’s 365 days of childhood.
