New Delhi:
Nidarshana Gowani, founder of Ankibai Gamandiram Gowani Trust, advised that people should allocate funds for social activities on a regular basis, just like they would budget for their monthly electricity bill or shopping.
Ms. Gowani detailed the work her organization is doing on behalf of tribal, transgender, and sex workers, and to ensure that the HPV vaccine reaches the maximum number of people who support it. “Transgender people have problems. They are well-educated and often act as backup dancers in music videos. However, they are frustrated by the lack of rights and fair access to systems and employment. ” she said at the NDTV World Summit 2024.
Sex workers also live far from home and work to care for their parents and educate their children. “We have fixed deposits from the post office for them, which mature in three years. The funds can be used by sex workers to start their own businesses,” Gowani said.
Gowani said technology plays an important role in bringing charity to the people and at the same time making young people aware of human suffering and how they need to give back to society. She added that philanthropy begins at home and the values that are given to children at home are imprinted on their character. “The social work you do will be passed on to your children as a legacy,” she said.
