Fans of the Buffalo Bills are facing steep ticket prices to attend games at the team’s new Highmark Stadium. Even the most affordable seats are priced at an astounding $700.
This week, Bills supporters from places like Florida, Tennessee, and Texas gathered in Orchard Park, New York, for the stadium’s grand opening. However, many expressed concerns about whether they could actually afford tickets.
One fan remarked, “Ticket prices are outrageous,” during an interview with a local news station.
As of Friday morning, the least expensive ticket for the Bills’ inaugural home game on September 17 was reported to be $702.10, according to the Post.
“Four tickets can really add up for a family with kids,” said one dedicated Bills fan who made the trek from Florida.
Another fan echoed this sentiment: “It’s daunting to think about how much it costs for a family of four or five to attend a game.”
Many fans voiced their worries about being unable to watch games in the new stadium, which was financed with $850 million of taxpayer money and is set to host the NFL franchise for the next three decades.
“Getting in here might be nearly impossible,” one supporter stated.
Another lamented, “I might never get to see a game here.”
The ticket price surge is largely attributed to the new stadium’s debut, a $2.1 billion project with a capacity of 60,000 that started construction in June 2023, which is apparently boosting enthusiasm among Bills fans.
Nick Giammusso, CEO of a ticket reselling platform, noted, “It’s due to the new stadium. The Bills and Josh Allen are performing well, and away teams like Kansas City and New England are also commanding higher prices.”
Giammusso suggested that fans looking to catch games at the stadium might want to consider preseason tickets, although prices can vary.
“If you truly want to go to the stadium, preseason offers better pricing,” he advised. “In Pittsburgh, for example, you’re looking at $100.”
The new Highmark Stadium, designed by the architecture firm Populous, will have a natural grass field with underground heating coils to keep it from freezing, and it boasts the largest stadium snow melting system in the world.
Additionally, it will feature a 360-degree canopy that covers over 60% of the seating area to help mitigate wind effects.
