A Burger King assistant manager could face up to 20 years in prison for serving french fries out of a trash can.
On July 9, police were called out after someone reported a disturbance at a Burger King restaurant in northern South Carolina. Upon entering the scene, police identified two women arguing with an employee, WHNS-TV report.
Police arrested the women who allegedly threatened restaurant workers on suspicion of disorderly conduct after they failed to calm down.
Two days later, Burger King headquarters reported to police that a restaurant employee had removed fries from a trash can and placed them in a fry dump, where freshly cooked fries are stored before serving to customers. These acts are said to have caused the women to be arrested two days ago.
As a result of the investigation, police arrested 39-year-old Burger King assistant manager Jamie Christine Major. She has been charged with malicious tampering with human food, serious felony Up to 20 years in prison if convicted.
Meanwhile, the two women arrested for disorderly conduct were later named as victims of Major’s alleged crimes, the Daily Mail reported. report.
Burger King told TheBlaze in a statement that the Major has been fired but declined to comment further as a law enforcement investigation is ongoing.
Burger King said, “These allegations are against the brand’s commitment to quality food and service and the creation of a superior customer experience. The employees in question have been terminated by the franchisees at this location.”
“As the franchisee is cooperating with local authorities and the investigation is ongoing, we are unable to share additional details at this time,” the statement added.
