Buttigieg assails leak as 'highest level of f—up imaginable'

Former Transport Secretary Pete Battigigue (d) has accused Trump administration officials who reportedly discussed plans for an attack on Yemeni Hooty rebels in a text chain that inadvertently includes Atlantic editor-in-chief Jeffrey Goldberg.

“From an operational security perspective, this is the highest level of f—imaginable,” Buttigieg wrote in X's post. Report in the Atlantic Ocean on monday.

“These people can't keep America safe,” he continued.

Goldberg reported on Monday a first-person description of the experiences that his experiences were included in a group chat about the signal, with the highest officials discussing the details of the attacks against the Hooty rebels in Yemen.

The initial invitation to the group apparently came from national security adviser Mike Waltz. Defense Secretary Pete Hegses reportedly sent out details of the group, including weapons used, targets and timing, two hours before the attack that began on March 15th.

Others in the group were Vice President Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Director of National Intelligence Tarsi Gabbard and CIA Director John Ratcliffe.

Goldberg writes that at first he had strong suspicions that the text group was authentic.

Goldberg also said, “I couldn't believe that the president's national security adviser was reckless enough to include him in discussions with senior US officials.”

National Security Council spokesman Brian Hughes confirmed that the message chain is authentic.

“This looks like a real message chain. We're reviewing how the incorrect numbers were added to the chain,” writes Hughes. “This thread is a demonstration of deep and thoughtful policy coordination among senior officials. The continued success of Operation Houthi shows that there was no threat to the military or national security.”

The report sparked a wave on Monday, accusing officials of irresponsibility and prompting a fierce blow from Democratic officials who called for an investigation into the incident.
