A yellow notepad with the words “Buy Bitcoin” flashed behind then-Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen during a 2017 Congressional hearing was auctioned for 16 Bitcoins (BTC), or It sold for more than $1 million.
A buyer known as “Justin” (also known as “Sklecky Russ”) was the winning bidder. bidder on Bitcoin auction platform Scarce City. The auction ran for a week and ended at just after 11pm (UTC) on April 24th.
The sign was provided by Christian Langaris, who wrote it and flashed it on camera after securing a seat behind Yellen during a televised House Financial Services Committee hearing in July 2017. .

“It’s great to finally be able to take this number out of the sock drawer and make it available to the Bitcoin public,” Langaris said in a statement accompanying the listing.

The list states that the page with the handwritten signature was “removed from the notepad immediately after the hearing” but was then “reattached with transparent archival wire.”
The yellow legal pad also contains the now-iconic scrawled “unseen draft,” along with notes on monetary policy and Bitcoin from the hearing.

In 2019, Langaris created and sold 21 replicas of the sign, selling for an average price of 0.8 BTC, which is currently equivalent to about $51,300.
The replicas are on display at venture firms Paradigm, Blockchain Capital and Castle Island Ventures, as well as in the offices of crypto think tank Coin Center, according to the listing.
bloomberg report Langaris said he planned to use the proceeds from the latest sale to finance a Bitcoin software project.
