Byron Donalds: David Jolly 'Is a Hidden Ally for the Democratic Socialists'

Rep. Byron Donald Challenges David Jolly to Debates

On Wednesday, Representative Byron Donald, the Republican candidate for governor of Florida, appeared on Fox Business Network’s “Mornings with Maria” where he proposed three debates with his Democratic opponent, David Jolly.

He described Jolly as a “Trojan horse” for a faction of Democratic socialists.

During the discussion, co-host Jackie DeAngelis reminded Donald of his debate challenge, stating, “Congressman, you have already challenged your opponent, David Jolly, to three debates, allowing Floridians to ‘compare two very different visions for the future of our state.'” Jolly responded by suggesting they first get through the primaries. DeAngelis pressed, “Congressman, you’re done with the primaries. When can we see you on the debate stage?”

Donald replied, “I’m ready to go. The decision is up to David Jolly about when he will engage, but I’m fully prepared because our values and policies differ significantly. It’s mainly about what unfolds on the Democratic side first. To put it bluntly, we have David Jolly, whom I consider a Trojan horse for Democratic socialists, and then we have Angie Nixon, who is a Democratic socialist. They envision a Florida vastly different from what the citizens of our state have consistently chosen.”

He further argued, “People keep coming to Florida for a reason: it’s a state grounded in common sense, law and order, conservative values, low taxes, and limited government. What Jolly proposes is government-run property insurance here, which could lead to rising costs for Floridians while he makes promises of improvement. Yet, from my experience, Democratic policies have rarely solved issues. Consider Obamacare; health care costs have gone up because of Democratic initiatives. Look at the effects of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris’s administration; they ushered in the highest inflation this country has faced in half a century.”

“Democratic policies are why many families are struggling,” Donald asserted. “So why would we let someone who started the fire be the one to put it out? Florida is a free state because we have rejected socialism and the Democratic Party. We will do this again in November.”
