Rep. Byron Donald Stands Out in Florida Governor Race

Rep. Byron Donald (R-FL) seems to be taking charge in the upcoming gubernatorial race in Florida, although the competition remains unofficial. Recently, Florida House Speaker Paul Renner has thrown his hat in the ring, and Lt. Col. Jay Collins is also reportedly considering a run.

Initially, a poll gauged “theoretical” support among potential candidates. Donald garnered 40%, while Collins and Renner only received 2% each. Interestingly, a significant 54% of respondents were unsure.

In a follow-up poll which provided more information about the candidates, including Donald Trump’s endorsement of Donald, the results shifted. In this scenario, Donald achieved a majority with 57% support. Collins maintained 2%, and Renner lagged behind at 1%, leaving 38% of voters still uncertain.

Overall, the survey indicated that Donald is experiencing increased name recognition as he campaigns for the gubernatorial seat.

Reports indicate that Donald’s name ID rose to 52%, a notable jump of 14 points since January. However, the percentage of people who had no opinion about him has also increased. His favorability rating has climbed from +32% in January to +43% this month.

Notably, Gov. Ron DeSantis has distanced himself from Renner, stating he does not support his candidacy. “I think it was an unwise decision to run,” DeSantis remarked.

In a recent interview, Donald expressed his vision for Florida, aiming to elevate the state as governor. He praised Florida’s current achievements, highlighting the need for further improvement. “We have great leadership in the state,” he mentioned, appreciating DeSantis’s efforts.

He touched upon various issues, including transportation and insurance, to make Florida an even better place for its residents. Donald envisions fostering a hub for innovation in technology and aerospace, aiming to position Florida as a leader in these fields.
