Public members captured a bulldog who was trying to get two police horses to bite while on the London patrol.
Metropolitan police horses Yvonne and Snuffle were on board when the uncontrollable dog began to pinch their legs.
The incident in Bush Green, Shepherd, west London, was filmed on camera with a body-depleted camera of one of the police riders.
The footage shows 13-year-old Yvonne moving in circles to escape the dog. The dogs are moving between horses as the owner struggled to control it.
The bystanders eventually intervened to catch the dog, which was returned to their owners.
An investigation is underway and no arrests have been made.
“They're the ones who are riding with PC Grace Miller McCormack when they were attacked last Monday,” said Sergeant Leon Astley, who was riding with PC Grace Miller McCormack.
“Fortunately, Yvonne and Snaffle are recovering well and are being looked after in the stables.
“We know that horses are not a common sight in the capital, but we are urging all owners to continue to control their dogs to prevent this from happening again.”
The Met appeals for witnesses to move forward.
Yvonne, 13, recognizable by her big ears, has been a police horse since October 2020.
The 15-year-old Snaffles starred in Activity Ride, a previously Mount Branch performance in Olympia, and is involved in public order policing in central London.
A person receives unlimited fines and can be sent to prison for up to six months because he is unable to seriously control his dog, Met said.
If a dog hurts someone, this can increase to a prison for up to five years.
