The incident comes just about a year after Texas men’s basketball coach Rodney Terry yelled at UCF Knights players who were making a “horns down” gesture in the handshake line after a win over the Longhorns. It happened a week later.
Terry went on to call those players “classless players.”
“You don’t go through the handshake line, you don’t have like six or seven people putting their horns down before you get to the handshake line. We don’t do that,” Terry said after the game.

“When you do something like that, it looks very classless and it looks like you just want to win. We never go into a game wanting to win. “We go into the game expecting to win, so we don’t do that.” “We act like that. We expect to win. We jump up and down, we act like we won the national championship.” We don’t act out. We don’t trample on somebody’s home court contract, we don’t act crazy, we don’t try to make a show of it to them in any way.’We don’t do that. ”
Former University of Alabama head coach Nick Saban actually yelled at some of his players, “Don’t do that,” after the team beat Texas in Week 2 of the college football season.
“I told the players, ‘We’re not doing that,'” Saban said on his weekly radio appearance, showing the “horns down” gesture. “Don’t do it. It’s not classy. There’s no need to disparage the other team’s traditions. Just play.”
