BYU Basketball Player Arrested for Suspected DUI
Kennard Davis Jr., a key player on the seventh-ranked BYU men’s basketball team, was arrested on Thursday in Provo, Utah, on suspicion of driving under the influence after crashing his vehicle.
Reports indicate that Davis sustained minor injuries from the incident. He was taken to a police station where charges were filed, while the other party involved did not require hospitalization.
According to BYU’s honor code, students are expected to refrain from alcohol and other substances. Violating this code can lead to serious consequences, including expulsion.
In a statement, BYU acknowledged the situation and mentioned that they are actively investigating the matter.
Davis, who transferred from Southern Illinois, has been a standout player for the Cougars, notably excelling in three-point shooting with an impressive 50% success rate this season.
So far this season, Davis has played two games, contributing 12 points and six rebounds. Unfortunately, he sat out Tuesday’s game against Delaware due to a foot injury.
Last season, he averaged 16.3 points per game at Southern Illinois, with a shooting percentage of 37.6% from beyond the arc. Interestingly, his playing time has decreased from an average of 34.1 minutes per game last season to 27 minutes this season.
The Cougars are set to face No. 3 UW on Saturday in Boston, which happens to be the home city of BYU star AJ Divanza, who was the No. 1 draft pick.
