BYU’s Jewish QB Jake Retzlaff lands NIL deal with Manischewitz

It's a match made in heaven, made in Provo.

BYU's Jake Retzlaff, the first Jewish QB to play at a Mormon school, signed a sponsorship deal with Manischewitz.

This is the Jewish food and wine brand's first foray into the NIL space, but financial details were not disclosed.

Retzlaff, who goes by the nickname “BYJew,” led the No. 18 Cougars to a 10-2 record this season and will appear in the Manischewitz video to talk about his faith and share recipes and traditions.

“I grew up eating peanut butter matzo as a favorite snack. Every Passover, my family and I would make matzo pizza together,” Retzlaff said in a statement. “During Hanukkah, our tradition was to make potato latkes, and now at BYU we are able to share these traditions with our teammates.

“This partnership is about more than just soccer, it’s about building connections and celebrating Jewish pride in ways I never expected.”

A limited edition matzo box with Retzlaff's portrait is also available as a gift.
