Bettors are projecting CJ Stroud to be the NFL’s best player in 2024.
With just over a month until the season opener, the Texans quarterback is the favorite to win the award at DraftKings Sportsbook. Sportsbook CEO Jason Robbins wrote to X last week:.
On DraftKings, the second-year point guard has the second-best odds (+850) to be the league’s next MVP behind only Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who is a heavy favorite at +475.
Stroud has rocketed up the odds boards this summer as bettors have become bullish on his chances next season.
He has overtaken six quarterbacks over the past few months — Josh Allen, Joe Burrow, Lamar Jackson, Jordan Love, Brock Purdy and Justin Herbert — to become the second-most popular after opening at +1400.
Stroud is looking to build on a historic rookie season in which he threw for 4,108 yards and 23 touchdowns with just five interceptions and led the Texans to an AFC South title and a divisional round berth.
The Texans then added skill to an already strong offensive line with the acquisitions of wide receiver Stefon Diggs and running back Joe Mixon, who would pair with Stroud and receivers Nico Collins and Tank Dell to form one of the best offensive lines in the league.
Oddsmakers are also optimistic about Houston’s chances of making the playoffs and the Super Bowl this season.
The Texans are currently listed at -192 odds to make the playoffs at FanDuel Sportsbook, which is the ninth-best odds in football, with a total win over/under of 9.5.

Stroud and company are tied with the Bengals for sixth-best odds to win the Super Bowl at +1500.
