C.W. Morgan, actor from 'Scream,' has passed away at 72

C.W. Morgan, recognized for his role as Hank Loomis in the original “Scream,” has passed away at the age of 72.

His daughter, Renata Macfie, shared the sad news on Facebook on August 31, expressing her grief with an emotional post. She reflected, “I’m never going to have the right words for this post. Losing you has left the biggest hole in my heart,” and included a nostalgic photo from her childhood.

She continued, “I miss you endlessly already. I will carry on our Mulholland drives and our Starbucks outings. I’m grateful and lucky to have had you as my daddy. My Guck. Rest easy bubby.” In closing, she noted, “Life will never be the same without you and your poorly timed jokes that I inherited from you. Love you endlessly (no more fighting about that anymore I win).”

According to records from the Los Angeles Medical Examiner, which were accessed by the Daily Mail, Morgan, whose full name was Curtis Wade Morgan, died on August 30 in Los Angeles County.

Details regarding his cause of death remain uncertain, but it’s indicated that he passed away in the bathroom. An LAPD spokesperson informed TMZ that the incident is being treated as a natural cause of death following a response to a death investigation call.

Morgan’s most notable performance was as Hank Loomis in the 1996 horror film “Scream.” In this film, his character was involved in an affair that led to his family’s disintegration, pushing his son Billy into the chaos that characterized the story.

He reprised his role in a flashback scene in “Scream 3,” released four years later. Morgan’s final acting appearance was as Coleman Spencer in a 2000 episode of “Nash Bridges.”
