Cadillac Vistique Electric Vehicle Recall
Over 14,000 Cadillac Vistique electric vehicles are being recalled due to safety concerns regarding the third-row seats. This decision follows a similar recall from Hyundai after the tragic death of a two-year-old girl earlier this year.
General Motors announced it would recall specific 2026-2027 Cadillac Vistique models, as the rear electric seatbacks fail to reverse when they encounter an obstruction. This poses a risk of trapping individuals, particularly small children.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) indicates that all 14,540 affected vehicles have a defect.
Despite the recall, General Motors has stated that they are unaware of any injuries tied to this issue.
Currently, Cadillac is instructing owners to take their vehicles to dealerships. There, the feature that allows the third-row seats to fold will be disabled until replacement parts are ready. Repairs will be conducted at no cost once the necessary components are available.
Notifications will be sent out to owners by August 3rd. In the meantime, Cadillac has instructed dealers to halt orders for the impacted vehicles.
The defect came to light after Hyundai’s recall of over 60,000 2026 Palisade vehicles following the incident involving the young girl in Ohio. She became trapped in the seatback while in a parking lot and, tragically, later died from asphyxiation.
