Fever Bounce Back with Win Against Lynx
After a tough game on Sunday, the Indiana Fever found their rhythm again on Tuesday, defeating the top-ranked Minnesota Lynx with a score of 96–77 in their last regular season game at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
The Fever benefited not only from a solid overall performance from their starting lineup but also from the absence of rookie star Olivia Miles, who sat out due to a calf injury. Early on, Indiana established a strong lead, putting Minnesota in a 23-point hole before halftime—this was, remarkably, the Lynx’s largest deficit of the season. Minnesota’s coach, Cheryl Reeve, opted to give her bench more playtime in the third quarter, and that decision seemed to pay off as they finally began to find their groove, narrowing the gap to single digits.
Caitlin Clark had a standout night, almost achieving a triple-double, ultimately scoring 27 points along with nine rebounds and seven assists.
In an interesting tactical shift from Sunday’s match, Sophie Cunningham and rookie Raven Johnson swapped minutes, with Cunningham getting significantly more playing time. This was a marked change since Johnson had played more in the previous game. The Fever’s offense appeared more cohesive with Cunningham on the court.
Meanwhile, Indiana’s “Big 3″—Clark, Aliyah Boston, and Kelsey Mitchell—combined for an impressive 67 points, with Mitchell continuing her hot streak by scoring 20 or more points for the 27th consecutive game.
Despite the victory, Clark pointed out that the third quarter felt a bit disorganized. “You’ve got to give their bench credit,” she noted, reflecting on the challenges they faced, but added that their overall offensive pace was solid.
Indiana’s heavy loss to Washington is now behind them, and this win against the Lynx serves as a significant boost in momentum just ahead of the playoffs, keeping their hopes for home-court advantage alive.
The Fever’s regular season wraps up on Thursday with a rematch against the Lynx, only this time it will take place in Minnesota.
