Caitlin Clark, Angel Reese Rivalry Makes Sunday’s Rematch the Most Expensive WNBA Game Ever

WNBA star Caitlin Clark has another record to be proud of in her young professional basketball career: The top ticket price for her Indiana Fever game against the Chicago Sky and rivals Angel Reese has soared to $9,000, making it the most expensive ticket ever for a WMBA game.

According to TickPick, tickets for this weekend’s game in Chicago start at $249, but the top price for a comfortable seat can go up to a whopping $9,131. WMAQ TV In Chicago, the low ticket price of $249 is 207 percent higher than the Chicago Sky’s average ticket price of $88.

The WNBA had already announced that May was the best-attended month in the league’s 26-year history.

“What’s happening right now in women’s basketball confirms what we’ve known all along: the demand is there and women’s sports is a worthwhile investment,” chief growth officer Cory Edison asserted at the time of the announcement. Fox Sports report.

The rivalry between Indiana’s Clark and Chicago’s Reese has been in the spotlight as Reese continues to commit flagrant and often uncalled physical fouls on Clark.

Last weekend, Reese hit Clark in the head during a match against the Fever.

Reese’s flagrant slam was initially ruled a general foul, but after review, the officials later upgraded it to a Flagrant 1.

Sky head coach Theresa Weatherspoon excused Rees’ frequent and vicious fouls on Clarke, insisting that Rees was “just fighting hard.”

Rees, meanwhile, tried to turn his attack on Clark into an accusation that the media was attacking him, saying after the game: “You can’t control the referee and it obviously affected tonight’s game a lot. They’ll be playing this footage about 20 times by Monday.”

Meanwhile, the suave Clark continues to pack venues and grow TV audiences.

Clark, for example, has already been the star of every game that has broken the league’s attendance and ratings records this year, with her games breaking records across every venue, including ESPN2, ABC, ESPN, Ion and NBA TV.

As television viewership increased, WNBA arena attendance also soared, up to 94% capacity for some games.

The stage was set from her league debut, with a reported attendance of 13,028 in May, more than triple the number of fans who attended an Indiana Fever game last year.
