WNBA All-Star Game Captains Announced
Kate Clark has been named one of the two captains for the upcoming 2025 WNBA All-Star Game, as announced jointly by the league and Indiana Fever on Sunday.
This exciting event is scheduled for July 19 at Gainsbridge Fieldhouse, the Fever’s home in Indianapolis.
Last season, Clark was an All-Star and this year, she garnered the most votes in the league—1,293,526, to be exact. It’s actually her first time stepping into the captain role for an All-Star Game.
Minnesota Lynx’s Nafisa Collier will join Clark as a captain, and she’ll be selecting players for the All-Star Game in a draft airing on ESPN on July 8. Fans can also expect the announcement of the remaining eight starters on Monday.
While Clark has faced some struggles with her jump shots recently, she boasts an impressive record this season, including four double-doubles. Currently, she averages 18.2 points, 8.9 assists, and five rebounds per game. Notably, she became the fastest player in WNBA history to achieve 350 assists during her team’s opener against the Chicago Sky, where she also recorded a triple-double with 20 points, 10 assists, and 10 rebounds.
However, it hasn’t been all smooth sailing for Clark. She’s dealt with a few injuries, including a groin issue that has sidelined her for the last two games, bringing her total missed games this season to seven. There was a recent game against the Los Angeles Sparks where it was announced shortly before tip-off that Clark wouldn’t be participating. It’s a tough break, especially as the Fever gear up to face off against the Dallas Wings, who currently hold the top position overall.
The Fever’s current record stands at 8-8, placing them seventh among the WNBA teams.
They have their next game against the Lynx on Tuesday and have some challenging matchups lined up this week against the Las Vegas Aces and the Sparks. Let’s see how they perform moving forward.
