Caitlin Clark Launches Her Signature Shoe
Caitlin Clark has officially unveiled her own signature shoe— the Nike Kaitlyn 1. This announcement came on Wednesday afternoon, finally putting an end to months of anticipation since Nike revealed her logo last year.
Multiple sources indicate that Clark’s first signature model will be available starting October 1st. Reports suggest that the shoe will retail for $140 in North America and $135 internationally.
Clark described this moment as akin to releasing a debut album, stating, “We want it to be killer,” in a conversation with ESPN.
The Kaitlyn 1 is a striking royal blue basketball shoe featuring Clark’s interlocking “CC” logo on both the tongue and outsole. It has a textured upper and a unique layered Nike Swoosh on the side. This stacked design is meant to mimic her initials, while a “C” on the exterior and a nod to her No. 22 jersey in the form of a “2” on the inside add even more personal touches.
Messages like “Shoot more threes,” “From Anywhere,” and “Never a long shot” are also crafted into the design of the shoe.
“There are different Easter eggs all over the shoe that people can look inside to find,” Clark noted. “When you watch me on the court, the shoe may seem one-sided, but when you actually hold it in your hands, you’ll notice a lot of little discoveries. I think that’s really fun.”
Leading up to the announcement, Clark teased her fans by hinting that her time wearing Kobe Bryant sneakers might be coming to an end, changing her Instagram profile to offer a sneak peek at her upcoming shoe and wearing an all-blue outfit with a bracelet that read “10-01-26” before her game against the Toronto Tempo.
The Caitlin 1 will also feature Nike’s new “Opticast” technology, which the brand claims enhances movement on the court by reducing drag, tailored around Clark’s speed and unpredictable gameplay.
Clark expressed her hope that the shoe will be practical for both athletic and casual wear, observing, “We wanted it to look different than what’s in the store, but also to be something people would feel comfortable wearing.”
Nike is also set to launch a clothing line featuring 18 different pieces inspired by Clark, which will include jackets, T-shirts, and graphic hoodies.
With this release, Clark becomes the fifth active WNBA player to have a signature shoe from a major brand, joining notable athletes like Angel Reese with Reebok, Brianna Stewart with Puma, and Sabrina Ionescu and A’ja Wilson with Nike.
This development adds yet another layer to Clark’s influence in the WNBA, where her arrival has notably increased viewership, attendance, and overall attention toward the league.
