Caitlin Clark Breaks Yet Another Record in Front of the Largest Crowd in WNBA History

Caitlin Clark wasn't able to pull off a win in her final game of her rookie regular season, but despite the loss, she still found a way to make history.

Clark and the Indiana Fever lost to the Washington Mystics by one point on Thursday night, but it was a win in front of a WNBA crowd that was entirely made history thanks to Caitlin Clark's incredible rookie season. An official attendance of 20,711 packed Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C.

Attendance wasn't the only record-breaking moment: Clark also set the record for most points scored by a point guard in a WNBA season.

“I think that's what people enjoy. I try to engage with the fans. I try to be with the crowd. I try to give them something to cheer for. I want them to be a part of it. It's an experience for me, but it's also an experience for them.”

“It's just as much fun to be on the court in a packed arena as it is to have the crowd there. It's exciting to play in a packed arena. We want to give the crowd something in return for what they've paid.”

What Clark brought to the table was a rookie season that included the most points scored by a rookie in WNBA history, the all-time scoring record for a point guard, a new record for most assists in a single game, the most assists by a WNBA player in a season, and the most triple-doubles by a rookie in a season. She also passed Diana Taurasi for second place in three-pointers made in a season.

The scary thing is that she's still a rookie, so there's a good chance she'll get even better in the future.

Next up for Clark and the Fever is the WNBA playoffs, which begin Sunday.

The Fever are scheduled to take on the Connecticut Sun, and Clark will get a chance to continue his rivalry with Sun forward DiJonai Carrington.
