WNBA rookie phenom Caitlin Clark was “really looking forward to” meeting New York Yankees captain Aaron Judge during his visit to the Bronx on Saturday.
However, she was surprised by the sheer size of the man waiting for her.
Clark was the celebrity guest at the first game of a doubleheader between the Yankees and the Texas Rangers.
She was allowed on the field, in the Yankees clubhouse and in the YES Network broadcast booth wearing a custom Yankees home jersey with her name and number 22 on it.

Clark, who joined Yankees play-by-play announcers Michael Kay and Paul O’Neill for the top of the third inning broadcast, recounted his experience seeing Judge up close for the first time and admitted that Judge was the player he was most eager to meet.
“He’s very big, and very muscular. Not only is he very tall, he’s also very beefy,” Clark said.
Judge’s 6-foot-7, 282-pound physique far exceeded her expectations.

“He’s a lot bigger than people think he is,” Clark said. “I know he’s big, but when you sit next to him, you’re like, ‘Oh my gosh, he could play football or any sport.’ I’m sure he’d be pretty good at basketball. But yeah, he’s a good guy, down to earth guy. … He’s about twice my height.”
But at 6 feet tall and 152 pounds, Clark isn’t that small.

The 22-year-old Clark was the first overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft by the Indiana Fever following a stellar career at the University of Iowa. As a Hawkeye, Clark broke the NCAA record for the most points scored by a basketball player, male or female, combined.

Clarke has had time to visit Yankee Stadium after being controversially cut from the U.S. Women’s Basketball Olympic Team, but she was named a WNBA All-Star as a rookie and is a leading candidate for the league’s Rookie of the Year award.
The 30-year-old Judge is in the midst of perhaps the best season of his career, leading the nation with 41 homers, 105 RBIs and a 1.148 OPS and in line to win his second AL MVP award.
