Clark Stands Her Ground Against Howard
That’s the spirit, Caitlyn! It’s great to see you stand up for yourself!
The Atlanta Dreams aimed to disrupt Indiana Fever superstar Caitlin Clark’s rhythm in their recent game, but it was the Fever who emerged victorious with a final score of 81-76. Clark played a pivotal role, particularly in her interactions with Rhyne Howard.
Clark, who often finds herself at the center of WNBA controversies, experiences a lot of scrutiny—perhaps more than others—mainly due to the dynamics within a sport largely dominated by Black athletes. Generally, she navigates these challenges with a savvy approach, but she showed a bit more assertiveness against Howard.
At one point during the game, she maneuvered past Howard, who was playing defense a bit too aggressively. When the referee stopped the play, Howard pushed Clark. In response, Clark took a moment before asserting herself. Sure, she could have been more forceful, but it represents a positive shift from her recent interactions with Angel Reese.
“I’m not scared of you!” Clark exclaimed, even as teammates restrained her.
So, good job, Caitlyn! Now let’s see you continue this momentum!
